ABOUT OYKA PAPER PACKING

OYAK's access to the paper industry started by the production of multilayer heavy-duty kraft bags within the body of OYKA Paper Packing Industry and Trade Inc. that was in service under the umbrella of the OYAK Group. As the important milestones of the subject are listed below OYKA was a paper processing company until 2003 and became a paper producing company as of this date by the purchase of SEKA Çaycuma Factory.

İPaper, one of the most important necessities of humanity has been in use for thousands of years. Paper, in the sense we use today, was discovered by the Chinese in 105 AD and came to Europe after almost a thousand years in the 12th century. The technology that developed throughout centuries created the opportunity for high quantity production and the first modern factory in Turkey started production in 1936.

Almost all the nations with developed and rich forestry resources who understood the importance of paper succeeded to build up a place for themselves at the top of the world paper industry with the rational studies they performed. Among these USA, China, Japan, Germany and England occupy the front seats. The developing countries regard integrated paper production plants as the criterion for development.    

Today, in the world 400 million tons of annual paper production is made in over 10 thousand production facilities by 3 million employees. This creates a volume of trade worth 500 billion dollars. 

In the energy concentrated paper sector the raw material is of utmost importance, following the competition in 1991 and with the effect of globalisation, company unifications and purchases came to the agenda, and few companies became dominant in production.

OYKA Paper Packing produces Kraft paper and bags from kraft paper. In paper production the annual production capacity is 80,000 tons/year whereas the paper bag production capacity is 160 million pieces/year. The production is carried out in the following facilities:

• Adana Facility: There is an annual 80 million tons of bag production capacity in this facility which is as well the headquarters of the company.

• Çaycuma Facility: Çaycuma facility, the only integrated kraft paper factory, that has an annual 80,000 tons of paper production capacity was purchased in 2003. In this factory Dark Kraft Cellulose, dark Kraft and Kraft bag paper with Klupak, Kraftliner and Semi-chemical Fluting cardboard and industry type bags in 2-4 layers and up to 8 colours with white outer surface and polyethylene in between layers are produced.

Besides, in the Çaycuma Facilities production capacity has been raised to 80 million pieces in up to 8 colours of Kraft bags with the addition of the bag factory that was taken into service in 2008.
