2009 MATHS CHAMPIONS OF THE OYAK GROUP
HATAY İSKENDERUN TOSÇELİK SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL

Among the 1972 students that took part in the championship examination held on November 15, 2008 in 17 cities, the students of Hatay Iskenderun Tosçelik Science High School won the contest.

The first phase of the contest, which is organised for the seventh time by the OYAK Group, was spontaneously held in Adana, Balıkesir, Batman, Bolu, Düzce, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kırıkkale, Manisa, Mardin, Ünye, Rize, Sakarya, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Tekirdağ and Zonguldak on Saturday, November 15, 2008.   

On April 18, 2009 Saturday, the winners of 17 cities competed among themselves to designate the champion at ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus with the questions prepared by TUBITAK. The students of Hatay Iskenderun Tosçelik Science High School reached the first place with 33.6 points, Sivas Science High School became the second and Batman Science High School became the third.

The students of the city winner schools, team leaders, team leader teachers and schoolmasters, together with their families were hosted and accommodated in Istanbul between 17-21 April, as guests of the OYAK Group. The students visited the historical and cultural places of Istanbul during these 4 days and also paid visits to the campuses of the Bosporus and the Istanbul Technical Universities.  

On April 20 the students came together with the graduates of the Bosporus University for lunch at the Graduates' Association and shaped up their future plans and carrier targets with the experienced graduates.

All the students took part in the award ceremony on April 20 at Swissotel where various gifts were presented; the champion school was granted a combined laboratory worth 15,000 TL, all the students, teachers and schoolmasters received a bag of gold worth 1,000 TL each and the families of the successful students received gift cheques worth 1,000 TL each.
