THE NEW MEMBER OF OYAK CEMENT GROUP: ASLAN CEMENT

OYAK Cement Group, the capacity and market leader of Turkey, has concluded the works on purchasing Aslan Cement, Lafarge Ereğli Grinding Facility and Lafarge Concrete of the Lafarge group, that were decided to be put up for sale at the end of 2008; and the agreement for the purchase of the group was signed on April 30, 2009.

OYAK Cement Group, that is the strongest of the sector in liquidity, has carried on evaluating the purchase opportunities in the last years and decided on the Lafarge Marmara Group as it has been the most suitable one. We hope that these companies that have realised a total sale of 1.8 million tons of cement and 1.2 million m³ ready mixed concrete in 2008 in Marmara and Western Black Sea regions shall be prosperous for our stakeholders.

Within the scope of the sales agreement 97.3 % of Lafarge Aslan Cement, 50 % of Lafarge Ereğli Cement and 24.24 % of Lafarge Concrete, the affiliates of Lafarge Aslan Cement, have been concluded in the 130.6 million Euro deal and the control of all these companies shall pass onto the buyer with the transaction.

This transaction is subject to the permission of the Competition Authority.
